This Week's Beauty Call 8-28-2015

Today, I thought I'd blog about my favorite beauty and fashion related posts. I love reading other people's blogs and getting ideas or inspiration from them. It's also relaxing to just get into bed and read after a long day of work.

DIY Contour Brush from The Beauty Department

The holy grail of contour brushes is the NARS Ita Kabuki Brush but with a $55 price tag, it's not the easiest purchase to make. The Beauty Department comes up with an alternative solution for those of us on a budget--modify an existing brush into a contour brush using two bobby pins! Check out their post on how to achieve this beauty hack.

She's Got It Slip from Free People - $88

I've recently come to love Free People. Their aesthetic is effortless and boho chic and their She's Got It Slip is exactly that. I love the halter neck and the lace details on this beauty. For those of us adventurous enough to do so, this can be worn out as a dress with booties as we transition from summer into fall. I'm partial to this red one called "brick" pictured above but it comes in 9 different colors!

Fendi Eye Make-Up from Harper's Bazaar's Best Fall Makeup 2015

When I saw this picture from Harper's Bazaar, I absolutely fell in love with it! This eye liner look reminded me of the ink drawings we had to do in some of my art classes. I tried out this look using Urban Decay's eyeshadow in X on the lids, Mac Cosmetics' Fluidline in Blacktrack on the lash line and Mac Cosmetics's Eye Kohl in Smolder to mark out along the crease. Needless to say, it looked better in the photograph than it did in person but I still love it nonetheless. I must find a way to make this look wearable. Leave a comment below if you have any ideas!

Romantic Rose Photo Tutorial from Makeup Geek

I've been wanting to do a rose gold eye look for a few weeks now and I ran across this Romantic Rose Photo Tutorial from Makeup Geek this morning. This is exactly what I had in my mind! The best part is MUG has done all of the thinking for me. Of course, I have to adapt it to the products I already have but at least the basic idea is laid out for me to modify. I'm really glad I ran across this. Now if I can just get a date night with my husband so that I can try out this look.

Chrissy Teigen for Angeleno Magazine

I love Chrissy Teigen. If you don't follow her on Instagram, STOP READING AND GO FOLLOW HER NOW! Not only is she drop dead gorgeous, she's also hilarious and apparently an amazing cook. I can stalk her on IG for hours. I saw her post this look a couple of weeks ago while she was on set and was so enamored by it--the big hair, the smokey eye and the plum-y lips. The whole thing is right up my alley. I'd probably wear this look to the grocery store too.
