Product Review: Ciaté London - The Fun Palette

I have never tried Ciaté London products before. That's why I was so excited when my Fun Palette finally arrived. It's one of their three new palettes (the other two are called "Fearless" and "Pretty").

I've always wondered why people rave about packaging. After all, you can't exactly wear the product on your face. However, Ciaté London included a cute winking eye hologram on the case of this palette. It's pretty cool.

Into the blue is described as a "cobalt matte" shade. I initially found this shade a little chalky but I've used it to line my eyes and it applies better than on my arm

Crowd Surf is a gorgeous shade of violet shimmer. It appears a little more violet when it's sheer (shown) but becomes a beautiful Mardi Gras purple when you build it.

Speaking of Mardi Gras, Clamping is a striking iridescent emerald shade that you can wear just as wash of color or pack it on to get a shimmering teal.

Giggles is another color that would be good for Mardi Gras (after all, this palette is the "fun" one).  This shadow is a fuchsia shimmer that will keep those girls who love pink quite happy.

Magic is an ivory matte and would be good as a brow bone highlight for me. I can see a lot of girls with lighter complexions using this as a base. I may even be able to use this as a base during the winter months when my skin is a little lighter.

Flirt is an eggplant matte that would be good to line the eyes or as a crease shade. You can also use this as a base for purple smoky eye.

Vaycay is supposed to be a "rose gold shimmer" but looks more like an iridescent peach color. This color is exactly up my alley and I can see myself using this on a daily basis.

Skinny Dip is a terra cotta matte and as you can see from my swatch, this is actually the color that you would see if I were to go skinny dipping. It's the perfect nude color for me so I would be able to use this as a transition color.

Shine bright is a copper shimmer and is another color that is just my cup of tea! It truly is a good copper and would be perfect for a bronze look for the summer!

I'm used to Urban Decay and MAC eyeshadows so I was a surprised with the pigmentation of the shadows in this palette. It's not quite as pigmented as UD or MAC but more pigmented than you would find from cheaper brands. The plus side is that it is build able so you can make it as strong or as translucent as you need to.

I found the shadows to be soft and easy to blend. Perhaps that fact that it's not as pigmented as UD or MAC makes it that way. These shadows also apply beautifully, with the except of one shadow that I found to be a little chalky.

I got this palette for $35 at Sephora. Five colors (Into the Blue, Giggles, Magic, Flirt and Shine Bright) are each 0.052 oz and the other four (Clamping, Vaycay, Skinny Dip and Crowd Surf) are 0.042 oz. That means that each color, for an average weight of 0.048, comes to a total of $3.88. Compare this to Urban Decay's Alice Through the Looking Glass Palette, which is $3 per color (0.04 oz per color) or Too Faced's Chocolate Bon Bons Palette for $3.05 per color (0.03 oz per color) and it's certainly a comparable price.

I'm quite pleased with this palette. I like that I can wear the colors a little sheer and build up if I need to. There is a nice color selection and they would be perfect for creating various summer looks! I also like the fact that their shimmers aren't as shimmery as UD shadows. I love UD but their shadows have so much glitter that it makes it hard to wear in the daytime.
