Product Review: Ciaté London - The Fun Palette
I've always wondered why people rave about packaging. After all, you can't exactly wear the product on your face. However, Ciaté London included a cute winking eye hologram on the case of this palette. It's pretty cool.
I'm used to Urban Decay and MAC eyeshadows so I was a surprised with the pigmentation of the shadows in this palette. It's not quite as pigmented as UD or MAC but more pigmented than you would find from cheaper brands. The plus side is that it is build able so you can make it as strong or as translucent as you need to.
I found the shadows to be soft and easy to blend. Perhaps that fact that it's not as pigmented as UD or MAC makes it that way. These shadows also apply beautifully, with the except of one shadow that I found to be a little chalky.
I got this palette for $35 at Sephora. Five colors (Into the Blue, Giggles, Magic, Flirt and Shine Bright) are each 0.052 oz and the other four (Clamping, Vaycay, Skinny Dip and Crowd Surf) are 0.042 oz. That means that each color, for an average weight of 0.048, comes to a total of $3.88. Compare this to Urban Decay's Alice Through the Looking Glass Palette, which is $3 per color (0.04 oz per color) or Too Faced's Chocolate Bon Bons Palette for $3.05 per color (0.03 oz per color) and it's certainly a comparable price.
I'm quite pleased with this palette. I like that I can wear the colors a little sheer and build up if I need to. There is a nice color selection and they would be perfect for creating various summer looks! I also like the fact that their shimmers aren't as shimmery as UD shadows. I love UD but their shadows have so much glitter that it makes it hard to wear in the daytime.
