Hourglass Girl Lip Stylo Review
I've been really loving my NARS Satin and Velvet Matte Lip Pencils so much that I wanted to try ones by other brands. I came across the Hourglass Girl Lip Stylo at Sephora and bought a couple in January. These sat in my drawer until I tried them on this weekend and fell in love with them. It is a silky, satin finish with a color payoff that's perfect for spring. I like a softer, less opaque lip for spring and these are just the ticket.
The line is part of Hourglass' Spring collection and has twenty different shades, each named in ways meant to empower women. Most of the shades are in the neutral/nude to pink range with some corals and light purples so there is at least one shade for every skin tone. The formulation is such that it is quite moisturizing, as well. Each stylo has 0.09 oz and comes in the signature gunmetal/brown packaging that Hourglass is known for. While the packaging is beautiful, part of me wishes that they'd skimp a little on the cost of packaging to bring the overall price of the product down which is $32.
I bought the colors 'Idealist' and 'Achiever', both nude shades, but I may go back and buy a couple more. The shade 'Explorer' is a particularly gorgeous coral.
Because of the more subtle opacity, I noticed that it wears off after 4 to 5 hours when I wore it this past weekend. Keep in mind that that is after eating a bowl of delicious poke and some flan. It may last a little longer if you're not stuffing your face like I was. Check out the swatches below. Note that I applied foundation to neutralize the color of my lips prior to applying the lip colors.
Overall, I love this product and highly recommend for spring!
