My Holiday Table Setting
I have to admit, I’m not the best at decorating. My tendency is to do little so when I try to do more, I end up doing WAY too much. Even in my college art classes, my attempts at drawing exaggerated limbs lacked… exaggeration. So when minimalist decor started trending a few years ago, I knew that I would design my home in this way. Suffice it to say that this minimalist philosophy also applies to my holiday table setting.
We hosted our Friendsgiving party last week (post coming soon!) and I wanted the place to look festive. However, I’m not that into place settings (no unnecessary dishwashing, thanks) so I wanted my table to make an impact. I got a rustic runner from Amazon to put on my Dylan white lacquered table from CB2. I have been mixing rustic with modern so this is a perfect foundation for my table setting. On top of that are some fresh garland. I also added a few faux metallic berries from Michael’s that I bought last year.
The four candle holders are from Pottery Barn while the flameless candles are from Amazon. We initially bought and planned on using real candles but I didn’t want to worry about melted wax everywhere so the flameless ones were the best choice. I got some candleholders from Cost Plus World Market and the the white reindeer head is from Michael’s a few years ago. I’m not a fan of symmetry so I added an old Thai tea bottle I got from our Thailand trip with some faux greenery.
I pretty much threw everything together but I was so surprised at how much everyone loved it. We really are our own worst critics sometimes.
