The Catalina Weekender Bag
We did quite a bit of traveling in 2017. We started the year off with a 3 country trip to Vietnam, Thailand and Japan in January and then another trip in the summer that took us to Belfast, London and Paris. A few weeks later, we also left for a week long trip to Lawrence, KS and Kansas City, KS. Given all this, it was no surprise that my Dakine bag, which I'd been using as my carry on/weekender bag since 2011, finally died on me. I needed a replacement and immediately found one I loved so much that I purchased it online while waiting on our flight back home from Kansas City.
We didn't have any trips planned after last summer so my bag sat in my closet for over 7 months with the tags still on. Needless to say, I was so excited to use it when we decided to go for a weekend trip to Austin last week!
The Catalina line has 3 different bags: the original Catalina, the Catalina Deluxe and the Catalina Deluxe Tote. Mine is the Catalina Deluxe in the color 'Natural' and and the material is organic canvas.
The bag has a separate bottom pocket where you can store items that you don't necessarily want to mix with the majority of your clothes, such as shoes, toiletries or dirty clothes. It also has a removable padding for the shoulder strap which helps relieve some of the tension when carrying a heavy bag. A must have feature for me is a pass-through sleeve, which allows you to slide the bag through a luggage handle. A bonus is that this sleeve has double zippers so you are able to use this is an extra pocket for small items.
I love this bag so much! It's so stylish, understated and functional. And it looks like a few of the Catalina bags are on sale for 40% off right now so head on over to the Lo & Sons website to snag yourself one. You won't regret it come vacation season!
